RE: LI IVF consult
DH and I are going on Monday. 
Do we need to bring anything with us? I don't have any of my medical records, and haven't requested that any be sent over there b/c I haven't told my current RE that I'm going...
I don't know what to expect- the last time I visited an RE was my current RE and that was way before DH and I were married, so we weren't TTC then... I was going for my PCOS.
What should I expect?  Will it just be talking or should I expect bloodwork or an exam? I feel like a fish out of water.....

Once you choose your new RE, you should def. have medical records sent over. In your first appointment, you will give a full medical history and will probably have blood and sono. Since you are coming from another RE, the new one should not have to repeat tests that have already been done. Best of luck!

I don't think you have to tell your current RE that you're consulting with someone new.
I'd just call the office and ask for a copy. If they ask why, just say it's for your own records.

Thanks--- will they give me a copy of my entire record? It's over 5 years of stuff-- so there's lots of paperwork/notes in there... I'm sure they'll suspect that I'm looking elsewhere. I just don't want to send up any red flags until I'm sure that I'm switching. I was going to try to get in to see my dr this week so that I could tell him that we're exploring our options w/ a dr that has access to grants, but it doesn't seem that's going to happen due to my DHs work schedule, and the fact that I'm too chicken to go alone to tell him.

I use to see Dr. Kenigsberg for my endometriosis, he is wonderful.

This is who I will be seeing as well... I have my consult in the melville office and then my appointments after that (if I stay w/ him) are going to be in Port jeff.
When is your consult???

Yes, they'll give you a copy of your entire record. You may be asked to pay a nominal amount per page.
Don't be overly concerned with your doctor's feelings and suspicions. You're taking perfectly normal steps to validate your treatment plan and find a doctor who has better resources.

I would definitely bring copies of your records. First, it makes it easier for him to see what your issues are and figure a plan of action. Second, you are prepared - you don't have to do the same thing twice.
You are legally allowed to have copies of your medical records and you don't need a reason. Before I left RSNY I asked for copies of my records and when I went for other consults after seeing Kenigsberg for six months I recieved copies of my records at LI-IVF.
It's called being pro-active with your medical care and there is nothing wrong with it.
ETA: They will do an internal sono at your consult and send you for blood.
Expect to be there for an hour or so.

June 2..couldn't get it earlier..
but that's ok, by then I will have my CD3 bloodwork back. Let me know how you like him and how it goes.

He is wonderful! I saw him for about 5 years and am going back soon now that I'm actively TTC.
