RE Advice Please!

If you wouldn't mind, I was curious as to the first steps you took in finding a RE. Was it something your OB/GYN recommended or did you take it upon yourself to go to one after some unsuccessful months of TTC?

I am aware that I have a short LP and afer being off the pill for a year and a half with 6 months of officially "trying" I think I may need some help.

Any advice or input would be really helpful! Thanks ladies! Chat Icon

Re: RE Advice Please!

Well my ob recommended someone to me but what I really considered was location to me, and the hours and monitoring. You will be spending so much time there it really is important for it to be as convenient as possible.

ITA!

My OB recommended an RE and it just so happened to be the same doctor that my cousin had been seeing... she is currently pregnant with twins. Location is extremely important!! You will spending a LOT of time with your RE. If you are looking for recommendations, I'd have to recommend any doctor from Reproductive Specialists of New York.. they are all excellent!! They have a location in Mineola and one in Suffolk County.

Re: RE Advice Please!

After 12 months of TTC with no luck, we made an appointment with an RE. I didn't wait to see my GYN because I had a feeling that something was up. I had been off BCP for a year before TTC and nothing had happened.

The recommended time frame is 12 months if you are under 35, 6 months if you are over 35 or if you already have been diagnosed with something that could affect your chances (PCOS, etc).

I searched on here and talked to people IRL for recommendations on REs. I selected someone that had a good reputation, was close to my home/office and was covered by my insurance. Good Luck!

Re: RE Advice Please!

I took it upon myself to see an RE and found one that was recommended highly on here........... My OB originally said to just go home and relaxChat Icon He never took me seriously. Turns out I have PCOS. I'm so glad I sought out help!

Re: RE Advice Please!

I stayed with my OB for too long and did an unmonitored Clomid cycle. Obs just don't have the background an RE has. So, my advice would be to go see an RE if you feel like it's time.
