rant about expedia

i booked round trip flights with them on 2 different airlines. when I went to check the status of my flight the day of, come to find out the flight time had been changed to 1 hour earlier and different flight number.
No notification was sent to me by either expedia or the airline.

American said the change was made in November (!) and it was expedia's responsibility to notify me.
I was just on the phone with expedia and got "cut off".

Moral of the story: either don't use expedia, or don't expect any notification of changes to your reservation.

Oh man! Did you miss the flight?

I have a love hate relationship with them.

Had the worst experience with them 3 yrs ago. Swore I would never use them again.

But got a great deal to MX for last month and booked it. Thankfully had no issues.

I feel you do need to be on top of them thou.

Use Skyscanner. Then the airlines will send you a message.

That's terrible. I had a totally different experience...my flight changed (the layover time)...not only did they email me, they called me. They were no help with changing the flight (my layover went from 2 hours to 12 hours). But I called Delta directly & they gave me a totally new flight free of charge.

This happened to us on our honeymoon, but with Travelocity. They cancelled a connecting flight for us in Greece and never notified us. We didn’t know until we went to check in. We spent hours on the phone with them getting them to cover our hotel in the city we were going to be stuck in. They took no responsibility.

This always happens when DST changes- I always advise to ppl check all of your flights, because even far in advance they change (in many cases, more than once). Using a travel agent wouldn't cost anything, they would find the same deal, and they would notify you of any changes.

this and they do not allow you to pick your seats in advance....they separated me and my 18 month old luckily we were able to fix it but the aggravation was not really worth the money i saved.

Ugh. Sorry this happened. I had a similar experience about 2 years ago while in the Caribbean.

Dh has used them many times to book trips and he has text alerts set up through them and I believe through the airlines directly.

our last trip last week he used Priceline and got alerts when our flight changed to 20 min later.

that is weird that it was done so far back and you weren't notified.
