Rain on Friday
My brother is getting married on Friday - My sister in law is besides herself because it looks like its going to rain....
I feel terrible for her....anyone here get married on a rainy day? Did it really ruin it for you? Or were you able to put the bad weather aside and just enjoy everything? Not sure how to help her...Im hoping there is a shift and its end up being a beautiful day...

Rain on Friday
not sure where exactly she is getting married but I see a chance of 30% so I would tell her to not worry about it too much. There's been plenty of times they call for rain and it turns out to be a beautiful day!!
AND if it does rain, it may not be a wash out plus I think wedding pics with the bridal party with umbrellas make cute photos!!

Rain on Friday
My wedding day- it down poured. I had a cigar roller as a surprise for my husband too. It didn't ruin my day. I got amazing pictures and my hall tented the back patio for us no charge so we can have cigar roller. My hair and make up artist also came to the church and venue for any touch ups (we gave an extra $100) and the rain didn't bother me a bit. I still had the most amazing wedding day and wouldn't change it for the world.

Re: Rain on Friday
Thank you all. Agreed, the weather can definitely change and of course there are worse things...just feel bad if it does. I think everyone would prefer a beautiful sunny day.
I think she should order some unbrellas from amazon - they would make for cute photos!

Re: Rain on Friday
It poured on our wedding day. All day. I'd been excited to take photos at the pond in Roslyn as our reception was at the George Washington Manor. We ended up going straight there and they must have expected us- in hindsight it didn't even occur to us to let them know so they were really on the ball! Anyway, they let us into the chapel, where we took photos and the staff brought us drinks and appetizers. We all had a great time, much more fun than I'd expected. Unfortunately it's one of those things you can't control so you have to make the best of it and have a plan b.

Rain on Friday
It poured pretty much the entire day except by some miracle while we were getting pictures taken. It sucked that the outdoors couldn't be used for cocktail hour but the rain definitely did not ruin anything.

Re: Rain on Friday
I had a nor;eater on my wedding day. it didn't ruin my day BUT I expected it to rain the whole entire time I was planning my wedding well because that's my luck it sucked I specifically picked my church so I could take pictures outside on the stairs (and I went through some trouble to be able to get married there) and I wasn't able to do it. I got over it quickly and I will say it didn't really start to rain till we got into the church.
also I would tell her not to worry about the weather just yet it can really change that day and there is no point of stressing something you cant change (I know easier said than done)

Rain on Friday
This brought back a memory for me. Back in the early 90's I was in my best friends wedding and it poured, like torrential. This was back in the day when bridesmaids dyed their shoes to match their dress. Well, her color was Kelly green and my feet were green for two weeks!
Other than that, the wedding was great and the rain had no effect!

Re: Rain on Friday
There was a tropical storm on my wedding day. Rained all day. Something's had to be changed, and thunder had to be edited out of my video but it didn't ruin my day at all.

Re: Rain on Friday
It rained on my wedding day, we had to move the ceremony indoors. It did not ruin my day at all. I was marrying the love of my life.
Weather was just about the only thing I had no control over.

Re: Rain on Friday
She has absolutely zero control over the weather - it's insane to spend the week before your wedding hysterical about something you have know from Day 1 you can't control - It rained on my wedding day - I had to move the cocktail hour for the beautiful outdoor patio, inside .......was I disappointed? Of course, it took me 5 seconds to get over it a move on. The only way anything is going to 'ruin her day' is if SHE allows it to.

Re: Rain on Friday
I got married on a Friday & I remember that previous Monday, the forecast was calling for rain on Friday... I was a little bummed out but I ended up getting a gorgeous (though super humid!) sunny day (the rain held off until that Sunday) so you never really know this far in advance. And if it does rain? She will still have a beautiful wedding.

It rained on my wedding day. We just did pictures inside of the photographers studio. It didn't affect us at all and we are married over 20 years

Re: Rain on Friday
It rains in NY, a lot! My friend was married on a day with down pours. She was hysterical, snapping at people all for nothing. The day turned out just fine but all I remember from that day was her carrying on

Re: Rain on Friday
Showers of Happiness
Not only did it pour all day long.....it turned into sleet and snow by the time my reception started. Some guests were snowed in and never made it and the ones that did couldn't get into their cars to go home because their locks were frozen !!! So much for a New York December Wedding Did the weather matter....No not really.....I married the Love of My Life. Your brother's wedding will be WONDERFUL no matter what the weather outside is

Re: Rain on Friday
It didn't rain on our wedding day but snowed a lot and it was freezing 14 degrees with a wind chill in the single digits. I was so upset because I thought people wouldn't make it due to the snow. Mostly everyone showed up, and we have awesome photos of dh and I standing on a beach in the snow. I was in a strapless gown and open toed shoes. I thought I had frost bite at one point but we wanted outdoor photos so we braved the freezing snowy day. But I guess that was a chance we took getting married in Jan.
What you have planned and what happens are not always the same. At the end of the day its about who you are with. I would get some cute umbreallas and rain boots and get some cute photos out of it!
I also think the rain is mainly late friday into sat if it even happens.

Re: Rain on Friday
Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, it definitely made her feel better.
My sister and I both got married the first week of October as well within the last few years and we both had absolutely gorgeous weather, so I think the potential idea of rain just made her a bit upset since she chose October because the weather is "historically" beautiful.
It is what it is though...they will have a beautiful wedding regardless!

Re: Rain on Friday
It rained, when I got married. Not downpours but enough to not get all the pictures outside I wanted. However there was a lag and we got outside for a bit. It didn't ruin it though, we still had a great day.

Rain on Friday
It rained for my sil. But it stopped as we had to walk into church, walk out of church and for pictures. by some miracle it only rained when we were indoors. And her photographer said that the overcast sky was better for pictures. and her pics did come out absolutely gorgeous.

Re: Rain on Friday
Rained terribly on my wedding day. Didn't bother me. It is the one thing you can't pay for. I didn't let it bother me. Only she can control how it effects her.

Rain on Friday
On my wedding day it was supposed to DOWNPOUR all day, and the few days prior to my wedding it downpoured. The day before my wedding the rain was so bad. I was so upset, hysterical crying at work because our ceremony was supposed to be outdoors. The rain stopped before I left work but it was still supposed to rain the next day. I had a few drinks that night, prepared myself for an indoor wedding and said eff it. It is what it is and We're still getting married and there is nothing we can do about the rain! I woke up that morning to sunny, blue skies! No rain and it was a beautiful day. You just never know. The weather changes all the time! I'm sure her day will be perfect regardless!

Re: Rain on Friday
Not on our wedding day but a friends. She was married in a glass atrium that was not water tight and it was snowing and sleeting all over the wedding party. The pics are beautiful and adorable! It was also October which was insane!
