Mine was yesterday and I didn't. Just thanked everyone as I opened the gifts and said a general thank you after I was done. Have fun!

No, I don't think so. I just said a general thank you after I opened all of my gifts (& individually thanked everyone after too) because a lot of people had gifts sent to my house prior to the shower so I wanted to make sure they got some sort of public recognition as well.

I don't think it's necessary. After I opened all the gifts I just said a general thank you to everyone. Then I also just thanked my in-laws b/c they threw the shower and then I thanked my mom for all of the nursery furniture and support. That was really it.
