quick question re: Bottle Feeding-help
Hi everyone!
quick question-here's the situation
i have a 3 week old- i've been nursing him and pumping for when i go back to work
i was out a few days ago and found tommee tippee bottles on clearance, so i bought a bunch of them figuring "if he takes to them well, i might as well have a stash of them...if not ill return them"
i got ones that are for colic/slow flow- they have a valve in them, and i got one set of regular ones that have a tiny hole in the top of the nipple. tried one of the valve bottles and he spilled some milk out of the sides of his mouth. that was a few days ago- today i tried the other kind of bottle with just the hole on top of the nipple . seemed a little bit better but still had a bit of milk coming out- seems like it was coming out as he was holding the milk in his mouth before he swallowed
(when i gave my first munchkin a bottle, i feel like he was older maybe closer to 5 weeks, and we started with playtex drop ins- i know a bottle change might be in order but i wanted to know if its normal for babies this young to spit out a little)
my question is this: 1- is it normal for a baby this small to spill some milk out of the sides of his mouth regardless of bottles?
2- is it possible that this will 'correct itself' after another few tries?
i know 3 weeks (not even) is really little, but i need to know that if i happen to be at a store or stuck in traffic or something that my munchkin wont starve waiting for me to come home, you know what i mean?
im waiting for a call back from the pediatrician, but figured id ask all the experts here :) thanks guys
eta: wow, maybe not such a quick question after all- sorry!!

Re: quick question re: Bottle Feeding-help
I know my DD did spill out some when she was resting in between sucks. If you LO is latching on the bottle nipple well and most is going in and staying in I think you are ok. I love Tommie Tippie and I also just found Lansinoh makes bottles with Momma brand and DD loves them more than the TT. The nipple is a bit different and she has a great latch on that. Good luck and see what the MD says but I think your doing great.

quick question re: Bottle Feeding-help
I'm clueless with bottles as well-I tried the medela that comes with the pump and an avent bottle-with both she had a bit leak out the sides, but 99% of the milk went in.
I'm just not sure how to tell if it's the "right" bottle-I feel like everyone I know had to try a ton of bottles

quick question re: Bottle Feeding-help
Not in my experience and it was the reason why we stopped using tommy tippee. We use playtex ventaires now and she does not dribble like she did with the others.
