Quick cake question-- need help, please
I don't know if my resident cake expert (smdl) is on right now.
The cake I'm making for DD's party has buttercream frosting. I wanted to decorate it tonight, but that means it would have to be refrigerated then, right? That would totally stink if that were the case, I wanted it done tonight but have no fridge room for it at all!!
I do have CAC so the house is cool, but not enough fridge space.

I didn't think you had to refrigerate buttercream...but I could be wrong.
I thought you only had to refrigerate whipped cream...

i'm pretty sure buttercream needs to be refridgerated...when I make it homemade I know it needs to be kept in the fridge

Can you put it in a cake saver, then in a cooler filled with ice for the night?

Re: Quick cake question-- need help, please
If made with butter or margarine or milk, you have to refrigerate.
If made just with shortening, you should be OK if it's cool in the house.
A quick way to see if it's OK even with shortening, you will see "pearling" bubbles on the icing. Not good!!!
