Quick advice needed - How to prevent dehydration with a high fever
Of course snow storm coming and my DD who never gets a fever is starting to burn up.
I have never dealt with a high fever so I am not sure what the rules are to prevent dehydration when there is a high fever (in case it goes high). i want to know now in case we have loss of power and I am not sure what to do.
Any advice appreciated!

How old? Tylenol for under 6 months. Motrin for over 6 months. Plenty of fluids will be fine. My son had 103 over the summer and we just kept him in a diaper and t-shirt. Made sure he had plenty of fluids. A high fever rarely causes dehydration...

Ice pops, applesauce, anything liquid based if you can't get her to drink water. And motrin or tylenol to break the fever. But I wouldn't worry too much, if she isn't having diarrhea or throwing up. I don't think she can get dehydrated too quick from a fever unless she isn't drinking anything for a long period of time.

Ok I literally just went thru this not even a week ago. Dd never has had a high fever either ago it was a first for me as well.
First off def give Motrin when it is that high.
Keep her in light clothing and no socks when she goes to bed. We force her to have ice pops, drink water and water melon. She loves water melon so I tried that Bc I wanted to make sure she fluid.
DD reached 105 twice and it was scary. I had to keep her on rotating Tylenol and Motrin, cool rags to her feet, back of neck.
Did you take her to the dr?

If she won't drink, I'd use an eye dropper or syringe to get little bits of gatorade in.. I had to do this with my DD and she still refused to drink. We ultimately had to give her an IV, which was not fun, so keep trying to give liuids!

Oh no. Of course this just started and it's already snowing heavily and roads are really bad. She just fell asleep. No other symptoms of anything yet, just said the back of her head hurt and for her to fall asleep I know she is coming down with something.
Not sure if it's the flu b/c right now, she has no signs or symptoms of a cold at all. Just a headache and low grade fever right now but just want to be prepared in case we lose power.
I have advil and tylenol for her. (she is 4 to the poster who asked above)
The weather is already bad, so I can't go out so I will just have use juice and water. Hope it doesn't get too high and it passes. Not sure what it could be right now with just a fever and no other symptoms.

So far no other symptoms, vomiting or diarehha (sp). Hoping its nothing major.

This was us too. He wouldn't drink and I was literally using a syringe to get him to drink. He hated the pedialyte, the pedilyte pops, wouldn't drink juice, only a little water. It was so hard. Just try to entice your DD to drink, anything she is willing to drink. I don't buy juice for DS but when he was sick, I tried all diff types of juices. He would drink some milk so even though he was congested, I still gave him milk.
Hope she feels better.
