question to ponder

Read an article about Khloe Kardashian and her troubles in trying to concieve. She said they are not doing any kind of fertility treatments and leaving it in God's hands. We have our first RE appt and sometimes I do feel that way. If it's meant to be it will be and if it's not that is God's plan.
So my question is..would you still meet with the RE to see if you are at least able to get pregnant or would you just keep it in God's hands from the beginning.

Re: question to ponder

It depends on how aggressive you want to be. Infertility is a medical condition.I tried for year on my own. I tried eastern herbs and treatments for 8 months. None of those things worked for me. What I want is to have a baby and whatever I need to have one I am willing to take. Even if you go to a RE they don't always have the answers. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you have to try different doctors, tests, medicine and procedures. Whatever path you take it has to be right for you. Everyone is different and there is no right path. Hope you find yours.

i think even when going through IF treatments it's in God's hands! there are plenty of woman (here and otherwise) that have done treatment after treatment and still don't have a baby. doctors do what they can to help, but ultimately it's up to God (or whatever higher power you believe in).

Re: question to ponder

I don't view it any differently than any other medical condition. If we were diagnosed (G-d forbid) with cancer, we'd seek treatment, right? I doubt most would leave it in G-d's hands. In my situation, without IF treatment, we know 100% that we cannot have a child. I'll leave it in no one's hands but our and the doctors we work with.

That said, everyone has their own system of beliefs and each person is entitled to make a decision with which s/he is comfortable. I think being comfortable with the choice, whichever it is, is incredibly important.

I wish you well in whatever you decide Chat Icon

You can also say God help those who help themselves. If I waited to conceive naturally it's a pretty sure bet it would never happen since my my likely issue was tubal. My tubes weren't going to magically unblock or un constrict to propel my eggs down. (whichever the issue). We did ivf and I ultimately feel it was still in God's hands.

Re: question to ponder

Maybe this is because I don't really believe in God, but I decide the course of my life, not some mystical force. This attitude has enabled me to rise above humble beginnings and really dysfuntional circumstances. In fact, facing this problem has only cast further doubt on the existence of God because it's hard for me to understand why this almighty merciful being would make me face such struggle, suffering, trauma, fear, and uncertainty. So why would I let a little thing like a malfunctioning reproductive system dramatically alter my future and cheat me out of my dreams for myself? Not this girl. God schmod.

Re: question to ponder

i think it is totally a personal decision..

i cannot leave it in god's hands bc if i did i would never have a baby..i have a medical condition..IF is a medical condition

for us we will do whatever it takes..we want a baby but i totally respect and understand ivf is not for everyone and if someone wanted to do it all natural and see if it happens that is up to them, not for us

to answer the question if u have no plans for medical intervention i would not go with a RE bc 9 out of 10 times they are going to want to treat you

ITA! I just believe our journey in having a family was meant to be different and meant to be this way-- not that I know what that reason is but that's the part I am leaving in God's hands

Definitely! We are unexplained IF so it could have (and still might) happened on its own. That being said, it still took me over 3 years, 7 iuis, 1 miscarriage, and IVF to have to my twins. I would not wish the hell that is IF on anyone. I still cry sometimes thinking about it.

I don't know why we had to endure all this, but I definitely think it was still in God's hands. I have no idea. Maybe I was supposed to have twins and had to go through all that so I would get my boys? It was so hard going through everything to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but my desire to be a mother pushed me through even when I thought I couldn't anymore and then I said well I will do everything in my power and leave the rest in God's hands bc well, what else could I do?

Totally this!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
I struggled with this for a long time, and still do sometimes. I felt like I was doing something wrong by seeking treatment, but it is still in God's hands no matter what path I end up chosing.

Re: question to ponder

G-d created doctors.

G-d created "test tubes".

G-d created the opportunity for women to get PG because MOTHER NATURE is such a b1tch sometimes.

So, by going to the doctor, you are STILL leaving it in G-ds hands.

Re: question to ponder

I Am a very spiritual person and leave everything in Gods hands. I believe that it is still in Gods hands whether you use fertility treatments or not. I thank God everyday for my dc and this current pregnancy and needed help to conceive. I never once thought bc I had trouble conceiving meant I wasnt meant to be a mother. I just thought god was leading me down this path and I think one day I'll know why but even if I don't I never even questioned seeking help as taking God out of the equation. God is all for medicine and getting help if needed! Now, if you personally would rather not do treatments and go through all the dress that is something you have to really think about. Re: question to ponder

These are very normal questions Chat Icon However, left unanswered, they may cause more heartache and stress than you need.
By making the appointment with the RE, you will be tested for many different things related to IF, and DH will be as well. You may be more proactive once you know something is (or isn't) wrong.
In my opinion, your age is a factor (waiting too long makes it more difficult) overall health, and just having that peace of mind.
You can then make the decision to pursue treatments or not to pursue treatments. Remember that while they're testing, they can do things like iui and hormone therapy which can result in pregnancy- which could tell you a lot, too!
For me it was a learning experience. I didn't even want to do iui the first time, and if I knew then what I know now, I would have gone straight to IVF, no doubt.
God gave these doctors the knowledge and good grace to help people like us, so in my mind it's in his plan Chat Icon
