Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
No. Reason being, that is a LOT for whoever would be watching them. 5 days with a newborn and a 2 year old would be ROUGH. I don't think I could ask my parents or IL's or sister or whoever would be watching the kids to take that on.

Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
No. It's hard enough to take care of just a newborn, but to take care of a newborn and a toddler is even harder. I wouldn't want to place that much strain on whoever is going to take care of them (usually my parents) because I don't think it's fair.

Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
I dont see anything wrong with it. I have friends who did this (they had a 2 yo and a 2 month old) but their toddler was in daycare during the day. Can you split the kids between relatives? I would want to take advantage of being on maternity leave and not taking extra vacation time from work.

Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
Sure, especially if I have family that wants to watch them. My inlaws watched my 2 while dh and I went away for the weekend, we had a great time! Dc's got to hang at grandmas house , they had a nice time too
They should do it now while she is on maternity leave, so she can save vacation time

Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
No. I have no doubts that my parents could handle it, but I missed my DD when we went away overnight. I couldn't handle 5 days. As an EBF mom, that would be logistically very difficult.

Re: Question regarding Maternity leave?Vacation/Kids
a 2 year old sure if there was someone responsible to watch them. a newborn never ever. I cant imagine wanting to. they are so needy at that age and I would want to bond as much as possible before going back to work. but to each her own.
