Question re: sleeping after teething

My DD is 10 months old and normally sleeps around 9 hrs. at night. Every time a tooth is coming in she wakes up at 2:00 a.m. and screams to be picked up. Of course, I feel bad for her because I am sure she is in pain. Sometimes I give her Tylenol, sometimes I don't. Well for the past 2 weeks she has been in pain so I have been putting her in my bed when she cries at 2:00 because I am a working mom and I need my sleep too. Most of the times she falls back asleep, last night she didn't and it was horrible (for me and for her).

My question is once the pain goes away and she isn't teething anymore, do you think she would give me a problem going back to the crib since she was used to sleeping with me in my bed?

Has anyone experienced this? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Re: Question re: sleeping after teething

THis happened to us. DS was teething bad around 9 months. His top teeth were coming in. He was waking every 2 - 3 hours screaming.
Both DH and I WFT. We took turns going in the room to rock him. He'd go to sleep then wake a couple of hours later.
Finally, after almost a month I brought him to the Ped. She said the teeth came through so he should be fine. Now he's training us. He cries and we jump up to go in. We'd rock him till he slept so last thing he remembers is falling asleep in our arms. When he wakes up an hour or so later he's in the crib and confused. It's like falling asleep in your bed and waking up in the den.
Anyway, she said it was time to let him CIO.
First few days were hard. I got a Homedics Sound Machine. Played the music and put him in the crib. First night he cried for almost an hour then he fell asleep for almost the entire night. Second night he cried about 15 - 20 minutes and slept all night. Took a few nights and it worked.
Hope that helps Chat Icon

I'm there with you. FTWM and FTWD. Only... FTWM me wkes up every night. Dad "doesn't hear".

Didn't sleep much last night because he cried... and cried... and stands and cries.

I bring him to bed too. I hope it doesn't become a habit, but I don't know what else to do. Even in my bed, he's tossing and turning.

IMO: when teething, all bets are off.

Thanks..this does help. I guess I am just going to let her cry...even though I hate the thought of it. I just have to be strong. Chat Icon

It's not easy! I put him in early (around 7 - 7:30ish) when he was tired and it was his bedtime anyway. Do my usual routine of bath, books, etc. Put him in the crib and turn on the music. I went on the treadmill and watched in the video. I turned down the volume and watched to make sure he was ok, which he was.
It's hard, but we had to do it. When he eventually fell asleep I felt better. Good luck!
