Question on timing
Hello Ladies. I am new here, have been lurking for a while. I wanted to get your opinions. My husband and I were just married in June and have been TTC. I think i will o this weekend but here is my dilema. My parents planned a vacation for next summer and I think if we did conceive now, my due date would fall when they are away. (i already got a call from my mom about timing this!) I wouldn be upset if they weren't there and I know they would be also. The thing is my cycles are very long, 51 days! And although this is only the second month trying I am afraid it will take a while. I am 37 and DH is 44. So we are not young! This will be our first. Would you just take a chance and and try or would you skip this month and wait through a VERY long cycle to start again?? Sorry this is so long!

Re: Question on timing
The trip is actually a family vacation with all my Aunts and Uncles and cousins so it's not really something they can change. And if things dont work out and I am not preg by then we would be going also.

Re: Question on timing
I wouldn't wait because it may not happen right away. I would try every cycle I get...I would go for it. Good Luck

You never know...life can't just stop. My Mom is planning a trip too and I just can't tell her not to go.

Re: Question on timing
I put a lot of pressure on myself the last few months due to something similar. My family (parents, siblings and their families and DH and I) are all planning a trip overseas for July/August next summer and I was trying to make sure I wouldn't have just had a baby at that time ( I wanted the baby to be at least 6 weeks old). Honestly, I am not going to stop trying now, who knows what will happen. It's just too much stress. I decided that if I get pregnant, I get pregnant. If I get pregnant the plans will just have to be changed!

Re: Question on timing
It's a really personal decision, but I wouldn't change your plans about TTC around a possible conflict with a family vacation. Things works out and you make them work.
Your calculations could be off, especially if your cycles are long, so you may end up being due a month before or a month after this vacation. The baby could be born early. You just never know. Life keeps moving, and you'll definitely have the support of loved ones when your baby is ready to be born, whether you try to time it or not.
Wishing you the best, whatever you decide!
