Question for BFing/pumping moms...

How old is your LO and how long does he/she nurse on each side?

Has this changed at all? (excluding those crazy newborn times)

How many ounces of pumped BM does your LO take? When did this change?

Colin will be 6 months on Friday

He has always been pretty efficient at nursing and is SO much better than Ryan was. He did maybe 10-minutes per side from birth and now is more like 5-7 tops. Ryan was on my for like an hour for the first 3-4 months.

When I work, his schedule is
A.M. - Nurse
3 6 oz bottles plus 1 oz per meal (mixed with his cereal)
P.M. - Nurse 1-2x
1x middle of night

He basically started with 5oz bottles and I gave that to him when I returned to work (4 mo. PP) but found it didn't do the trick (he had only really had a handful of bottle before then so it was trial and error). 6oz did the trick and we've stuck with that since.

Hi DS is also an efficient eater. He usually does 5-7 min. total, so he'll only get 1 side. I always offer him the other side, but he's usually not interested...if he is, we might get another 2-3 min out of him. I used to get a full 10 min (on the 1st side) out of him up until he was about 5 1/2 or 6m & then he shortened each session. The ped said not to worry so long as he still seems happy & looks like he's gaining. In the beginning I used to get so frustrated trying to get him to nurse longer like all the books, websites, etc said he should be, but he just wouldn't hear of it lol

He used to take 4oz of expressed milk up until I think he was 3m old and then it went up to 6oz. He's still happy w/the 6 oz so that's what we still give him.

Right now he's nursing/taking a pumped bottle 4x a day + getting approx. 4 more oz in his 2 helpings of cereal a day. HTH

Luce gets both sides at each feeding, and feeds a max of 4-5 minutes on each side.

he's been taking 5.5 oz each bottle for a while now. occassionally he'll want more after that, but he's been pretty consistent, especially now that he's on solids.

he still feeds every 3 or so hours though during the day after solids he does NOT drain the breasts. on the weekends, I have to pump after some feedings to keep up supply.
