Question about room size?
We are redoing our upstairs completely and adding another bedroom. The room will be 9x13. Is this a decent size or is that small? Im terrible with this. What's standard?
Does secondary room size affect resale value? Even if the master is huge (it's 17x14)?? We are looking to sell in a year or two so I'm just checking.
Thanks!!!

Re: Question about room size?
I do think this can effect resale. I think 10x13 is much better than 9. I have had a room that was 9 and it felt too narrow to me.

Question about room size?
DDs bedroom is 9x12 I believe and I think it's really small. Once you put furniture in a room they shrink so much.

Question about room size?
we had a masterB that was 17x9, and it felt cramped no matter what we did. we had king sized furniture we could not use in the room.

Re: Question about room size?
Is it a 3rd or 4th bedroom? If so, I think the size if fine. By HUD standards, I believe a bedroom has to be at least 8 by 10 (and have a window and a closet). While bigger rooms are always nicer, in a lot of homes I sell -- because they tend to be older (1950s homes), the 3rd bedroom (or 4th, etc.) is often pretty small.
I find buyers don't care so much about bedroom size, beyond the master. Most people say they don't live in their bedrooms, and as long as it's adequate to fit a child's bedroom furniture (or to be a guest room or home office), most don't care that it's not huge. These days, people would rather have the square footage in common space, like dens and finished basements and kitchens, where the families tend to congregate anyway.
So if that's as big as the room can be, I think it's fine. Adding a bedroom (regardless of size) will always add value to a house.

Question about room size?
We have a bedroom that is 7.5 x11. While it is narrower than I would like I have used it as a spare bedroom and my DS room. All have been fine. Would I like a bigger room sure but it is what it is.
My guess is you can't pull space out of nowhere and it is likited on what size it can be. Like Chiristine said ....and extra bedroom is better than none!
