Question about renting a house and children
So we so an add on CL for a house for sale. However, the owner is willing to rent. It is a gorgeous house!
DH and I don't know if we really are house people. We have both grown up in the city and aren't sure if we will even like living in a house. However, we need more room and this seems like an interesting idea.
So, for those who rent a house, what are you responsible for? Do owners like families with children?
TIA!

Re: Question about renting a house and children
We rent and we love it! Basically if anything happens such as the fridge breaking, the oil tank shutting down, the landlord totally takes care of it. We are responsible for the oil delivery, LIPA, rent, and cable. She takes care of the lawn being cut, and the water. Some landlords are strict and won't allow you to do anything... some, such as mine, are pretty cool and let you do whatever you want. We so far have painted each room but the livingtoom, make a driveway out of recyled concrete lol, planted a few flowers, and fixed up the basement. We did it super cheap, but we decided since we ARE living here that we will make it nice to us at least for the time being. We plan on buying upstate in the next few years...at leat that's what I want to do...DH still needs somce convincing. Our landlord loves kids, since she's a grandmother herself, and sent us a nice congrats card when DS was born.

Re: Question about renting a house and children
We are considering it. There is a really nice house that we could never afford, but are toying with the idea of having some space!
thanks for your response
