Question about Registering
How do you know what you REALLY need to register for? Are those lists the stores give you good, or do they just try to make you buy a bunch of stuff you don't need as well as the necessities?
I have friends w/ babies that have offered to help, but I'd rather do it just DH and I if I could...
TIA!

Re: Question about Registering
Honestly you wont know what big things you will need like swing, bouncey seat etc. until you have baby b/c every baby is different. Some like one thing others like another. DH and I just registered on our own and did what we thought would need, and went from there.
Basically you know the basic items you need like : bottles, pacis, blankets, burp cloths, towels, thermometer, cloths, boppy pillow if bfing, pump, sheets, crib, changing table, dresser, toys etc.

Re: Question about Registering
The Baby Bargains book helped me when it came to registering. Also walking around BBB a few times helped before I even registered.

DEFINITELY get your hands on Baby Bargains - it's a PERFECT guide to registering.... The purple cover is the most recent edition (they update it every two years or so)...

Re: Question about Registering
i've been talking to friends who recently had babies. there is SOOO much extra crap out there or 10,000 versions of the same thing. talk to other moms and find out what you relally need and what's a waste of time. Also, certain brands are high quality and durable, it's good to ask around. Also, I am a person who hates clutter and too much "junk" laying around the house so I want to register for only what I need because god knows people are going to buy toys and other things like that out the wazoo.

i have to agree. once i had my registries 'set' - i sent them to my mommy friends - who i asked for HONEST critiques from.... I got them, made any changes i felt were necessary and am now very satisfied with where we are...

Re: Question about Registering
Don't register for all the things the store tells you too. You won't use all of it! You really should ask for help from people who have kids. I went with DH at first and he was no help. I brought my sister with me next, and pretty much finished my registry. She new what to buy and what not to buy.
