Question about putting an offer
We found three houses for $250K we were only approved for 223k TOPS. Is it insulting to bid for 205K plus and ask the owner to pay the rest of the years taxes (3,200K)? I realize they will come back but my mom thinks we should do 200k or 199K first bid plus the taxes and work up from that and i'm not sure if that is wise.
One of the houses has been on the market for over 100 days and from looks only needs minor updating in the kitchen (cabinets) but just lowered the price from $325 steadily in that 100 day span.
Two of the other houses are in mint condition or near mint from looks and just not in the grandest neighborhood.

Insulting or not, it can't hurt to try. You just have to be prepared for them to possibly say no. I wouldn't go as low as your mom said though. 205 is already a very significant underbid.

Re: Question about putting an offer
I would say I will pay 223 for the house as long as you pay for the taxes for the rest of the year and not do this back and forth b/s but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Thank you for answering me! I will do the higher number.
