question about pre-natal vitamins
How long before you were actively TTC did you start taking pre-natals? We want to start TTC around May or June...but not sure what the recommended time is to start taking pre-natal vitamins.

Re: question about pre-natal vitamins
i started taking them about 3 months prior to ttc. basically my doctor said its never too soon...they cant harm you to take, so once i ran out of my normal multivitamin i switched to prenatals.

Re: question about pre-natal vitamins
yes same as the other poster said basically. i have heard people taking them up to 6 months before,. can't hurt you at all. only thing is that some peoples stomachs cant tolerate them so some people are resistant until they really have to.
but i take the rite aid ones over the counter and theyve never bothered me at all. also because i was nervous about me feeling sick, i began by taking them right before bed so i would sleep through any sickness.

Re: question about pre-natal vitamins
I know when I have been pregnant in the past they would make me soooooo nauseous....so I hope taking them regularly without the change in hormones won't make me as sick.

Re: question about pre-natal vitamins
They have soo many different pre natals out there from prescription to OTC ones that if you try enough theres bound to be one that doesn't make your nauseous.
Usually it takes me 2-3 different kinds before I find one that doesn't make me want to puke but luckily this time the prescription ones the dr prescribed and the generic brand we got have no side effects for me.
i was told to start taking them as soon as we think we might want to TTC.

Try the brand "rainbow light", they are plant based (made from fruit and vegetables) and are very gentle on your stomach. I use the organic version and buy them on amazon. If you do the subscribe and save it costs even less.

Re: question about pre-natal vitamins
My OB-GYN gave them to me about 2 months before we were supposed to start trying. When she put my on hold for 6 months she told me to keep taking them, she said it can't hurt.
