Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
How long did it take you to get an appointment?
One of the places I called said it's not common - they do it if you want it but, usually not. Did anyone find this?
Thanks!

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
I have an interview set up for this Friday I called about a week ago to set up an appt..so i got in quick ..I really dont have to meet with him because my sister uses him for her children and I know basically how he works, but wanted him to see my face so when he comes to the hospital we would have already met.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
Thanks for your feedback.
I called 2 places, one needs to call me back (the person who schedules consults wasn't available) and the other place made it seem like they were foreign. I asked and she said we do them on Tuesdays so I'm scheduled for 11/17.
I think I may have more luck at the other practice. We'll see!

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
We called 2 places. One of them we had to wait a few weeks and the other wanted to charge us $52 just to come in!
Needless to say we're only going to the first appt for now.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
We called two. One wasn't accepting any new patients & the other wasn't accepting our insurance yet, but is in the process & not billing us until we are accepted. They set us up in 24 hours with an appt. Wonderful office & doctor.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
I had one place tell me that they dont do new parent interviews b/c the dr is toobusy..between hospital hours and office hours he didnt have the time. Umm..ok..NEXT...
The place I am using does do them but didnt have anything available in the evenings after work and its one dr. who does the interviews. However, we did do it over the phone. I had met one of the dr's at my childbirth class so for now im going to stick with this practice and see how it goes.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
One told me they don't do it, but had the doctor call me back. Unfortunely, I am so busy, we just played phone tag, so I decided against him.
One got me in for an appt in a week from when I called, they do them at 1:30pm Monday-Friday (what a pain, I had to take off from work). I didn't really like that place.
I have two more appointments, they were for 2-3 weeks after I called. Both are in the evenings.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
Thanks - the one place only does them on Tuesdays from 2-3 and the first available appt was 11/10 (which I couldn't do) so I'm going in on 11/17. I will work from home that day and schedule my 36w appt for that morning. They did say I could do a phone interview.
The other place hasn't called me back yet. I have two other recommendations so I might reach out to them as well. I find it funny that all of my friends in the area use completely different practices.

Re: Question about Pediatrician Interviews/Consult
My ped's office doesn't do interviews/consults for new patients. I used them anyway, because a family member has been going there for over 10 years, highly recommended them and I trust her judgment. They did have priviledges in the hospital I delivered at, so I figured if I didn't like them when someone came to the hospital, I could always switch.
To play devil's advocate, I don't think it necessarily means they are bad doctors if they don't do an intial interview, I think it just means they are a busy practice and don't schedule the time for that.

Thanks - I totally understand that. With the way healthcare is nowadays and everything - I'm sure it's tough to find the time to do a consult.
I've made my second appt for 12/3! If I knew, it would be this difficult in my area, I would've called the day I got my BFP!
