question about OPKs

once you O, should lines on OPKs become very faint or non-existant?

my test line is still dark at CD23 but not as dark as the control so obviously not positive. I wonder if I already O'd or if I will soon.

Re: question about OPKs

You mostly test until you get a positive then most people stop testing. I find the Chat Icon ones easier. Once you get a positive, after you surge the tests would probably be non existent since the hormone it looks for decreases.

Re: question about OPKs

my cycles are normally 30-33 days

i wasnt testing this cycle but decided to because i've been getting EWCM for 7 days Chat Icon today is CD23. My LP is always 14 days so even if I O today, that is a 37 day cycle.

i have cramps now so I am wondering if I am o'ing?

if I had already O'd, would it be that dark? I'll test tomorrow morning and see if it gets darker.

You should not be using opks in the morning unless you use the clearblue ones. Usually you should test around 2pm.

1. having a positive opk does not guarentee that you will ovulate. it only tells you that you are having a surge in lutenizing hormone, which is the hormone that preps your ovary to release an egg. the only way to confirm ovulation is by having a temp surge, lasting longer than 3 days. temping consistantly everyday is the only way that you will confirm ovulation. your temp rising because progesterone is released after you ovulate, which increases your basal body temp.

2. once you ovulate, you should not have a line indicating that you have a surge in LH. as a matter of fact, your body can stop surging, and you may ovulate hours or DAYS after you have a surge. this is common in many women.

3. unless you are using the digital opk's (smileys), you should be testing in the afternoon. because your body releases the hormone commonly in the afternoon. i am a big believer in using ANY opk in the afternoon for this reason, however, after some girls on here have said that the digitals can be used with FMU, and then researching it myself, you can use those only in the morning.

4. it is possible to have many days of EWCM, and can even have it AFTER you ovulate. there are many factors that affect your CM, although, it is more common to have a decrease in this mucous after you ovulate.

Re: question about OPKs

from my personal experience with those tests, the line basically goes away once you O
Considering the test line is lighter, that test is not positive...i would keep testing because you should get a positive soon. I find they get darker leading up to O and then basically disappear after O

Re: question about OPKs

this was last night before bed - about 10pm

this looks positive, right? Chat Icon

this is darker than when I tested yesterday afternoon at 4. hard to see here but the test line is darker than the control (it actually starts darked and then fades a bit but that happens with all of my OPKs)

it can happen! but at least you are getting a LH surge, so that's a good sign! sometimes your cycle can do wacky things!

Are you sure you're not PG? I'd try taking a HPT.

i dont think i could be, last AF was 3/16. The earliest I have ever O'd is CD16 and that would be 4/2 only making me 8DPO if I was PG, wouldnt get a positive HPT yet.

im pretty sure i am just O'ing late though i still got a dark OPK tonight, not as dark as last night but dark. ughhh
