question about nails!
I went for a manicure and the lady suggested I try UV Gel nails. She tried it on one of my fingers to show me what it would be like, and really raved about how it would make my nails stronger, etc...
Well, turns out that one nail looks awesome and it's really lasting and is so much harder/stronger than my others. She said it's normally $100 but she would charge me $60 since I have small hands/nails so she said it wouldn't be right to charge me the full price.
That still sounds like a lot of money to me. I'm wondering, is that what it costs initially and it's cheaper to get it filled in? How does that work? Is it $60 every time!?! She said I would only need to get a manicure once a month with the gel (umm, doubtful because I know the nail will still grow at the base and I will AT LEAST want to go every 2 weeks) ........ but can someone please tell me a little more about this? TIA

Re: question about nails!
I honestly don't know too much about it, since I have never done it, but I have heard about it. I know people say it lasts a lot longer than a normal "acrylic" nail and keeps your nails stronger. I also know that it is more expensive, but I've never heard anyone paid $100. I think normally it is $50-60. Maybe $100 is to initially get them done and the $50 is the "fill-in"??
wish i was more help! sorry

Re: question about nails!
I had it done for my wedding and it was SO nice. But it's an expense that I didn't want to keep up so I let it grow out and filed them down so that my nails wouldn't be ruined. Also, I kind of hate the idea of long-term acrylic or anything like that because it does ruin your natural nails underneath. But in terms of looks, feel, and durability, I liked it a lot more than acrylic which I had in HS.

Re: question about nails!
i had it for my wedding since my nails are short and i wanted it to last through my 2 week honeymoon. at first they looked great but i wanted to rip them off so badly after a week!
literally the day i got home from hawaii i made an appointment to get them taken off. my nails underneath were long but so thin i had to cut them off.
so for me, never again. it was about $65 to get done.

Re: question about nails!
Sounds right, the price.
as for the UV gel, its literally the hardest thing to get off your nails. Did it for my wedding and I decided to go natural, it was a b itch to get them off!
Never again for me.
if you nails are in good shape, i wouldnt go about adding that on.

Re: question about nails!
I had it done for my wedding. It was nice ESPECIALLY when I had nail polish painted over it.
They said it doesn't damage your nails.
It's a crock. I got the gel again for the honeymoon.
A day later it cracked on one nail- something it's not supposed to do.
After I came back from Europe, I went to the salon, had them soak it off and my once beautiful, strong nails were paper thin with ridges and ruined.
I don't recommend it. I prefer natural nails.
