Question about medical insurance
Can someone explain this to me? My health insurance is supposed to cover pre-natal maternity care 100% and the deductible is waived. I went to the Dr. for my 8 week visit which included an ultrasound. They found out at the ultrasound that the pregnancy is not viable. Now I received a bill for the ultrasound and office visit with insurance covering nothing.
Is the prenatal ultrasound and office visit no longer covered due to the diagnosis of non-viable pregnancy?

Question about medical insurance
I cant see why, you had not idea going in it wasn't viable and see if it can be coded as diagnostic. Speak to the Dr office.
Sorry for your loss

Re: Question about medical insurance
The way it usually works is your 8 weeks appointment is not considered pre-natal until the pregnancy is confirmed. Once it's confirmed, then your 12+ week visits are included at 100%.
That being said, you should dispute the claim with your insurance company. It should get waived or at the least just be a copay.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
