Question about Clomid?
Hi, I'm new to this board. Dh and I started TTC in Sept of last year. I found out I was pregnant in March and had an early MC. I was also diagnosed with PCOS. My OB said that after my 5th cycle of trying we will start clomid but he didn't explain anything to me about it. Would someone be so kind and explain what the process of taking clomid is? Thank you so much for reading!

Re: Question about Clomid?
first of all I am so sorry about your miscarriage. I know how hard it is...
you typically go into the dr for CD 3 bloodwork and sono, to make sure you have no cyst and your levels are good. Once the okay it you take clomid cd 3-cd7. Theynusually around cd10 they have you come in to check how your follies are doing and how many are growing. I know a lot of OB give Clomid without monitoring, but I would highly reccomend you talk to your dr about having you monitored while on clomid. good luck! Hope you wont need it!

Many doctors like you to come in around day 10 to see how the Clomid worked. "Monitoring" is usually blood work and a sono. The blood work will check your levels to see how close u r to O'ing. The sono will help the dr keep track of how many follicles u have and the size of each one. (Clomid makes you produce more follicles during your cycle----basically increasing the # of targets.) I usually went in on day 10 and they usually had me come back around day 12. When you're close to O'ing, if you are doing timed intercourse they'll tell u to BD. If you're doing an IUI, they'll have you do the trigger shot and will schedule the IUI for a day or two later.
GL!
ETA: I'm sorry for your loss and hope your stay on this board is short!

Re: Question about Clomid?
Exactly what she said, but some OB's don't do monitoring with Clomid, and RE will. I would ask your OB some more questions about his/her process.
