 | Re: Question about children and swimming pools We just bought our house last year and one of the reasons we bought it was because it has a pool. Its above ground, and I love it. And at some point I even want to knock it down and put an inground pool in. I do have a 20 month old, and although all these stories I hear are just terrible, once again, I cannot live in constant fear. I watch my son like a hawk when we are in the backyard. I have a lock and alarm on the sliders leading to the backyard.
I am a total lover of water and love swimming. I think I may have been some sort of aquatic animal in a past life, thats how strong my love of water is. I will start swimming lessons for my son when he is a little bit older, as I was told that at his age now, taking swimming lessons will not help save his life if he God forbid fell in. So I will wait another year or so. Constant supervision is really the best thing.

 | Re: Question about children and swimming pools I know someone who's 3 year old nephew drowned in the neighbors pool..He got out of the house somehow during a party, and he actually pushed a lawn chair to the side of the pool and climbed in I was shocked to hear that actually happening again, that some child did the same thing with other types of lawn furniture. Kids are really smart, they get into everything. | | Posted 8/11/07 8:30 AM |
