Question about buying furniture...
Is it true that if you're paying for your furniture in full with CASH, that they're more willing to give you a better price if you haggle with them?
We're thinking about buying a piece of furniture from Ashley. Wondering how much CASH really speaks when buying furniture. Anyone have experience with this?

Yes it ususally does - a friend just bought a couch for $600 cash - the couch was marked $1,100! I think it matters if it is in stock or floor model versus having to order a piece as well HTH

i think it depends where you are buying it...smaller stores i think will work with you more if it is cash from my past experience...i remember a few years ago when we bought out couch at levitz i mentioned paying cash and if there was anything that could be worked out and he said that they can't do anything..

i agree. cash is golden- but not everywhere. the smaller mom and pop places are a lot more willing to cut you a deal. we found that if we signed up for the raymour & flannigan credit card (and then just did a balance transfer the following month) they were willing to haggle with us on pricing, especially since we were getting two complete room sets of furniture

we hit up a few of those mom & pop shops on route 110 & 112, found one with Ashley furniture, paid cash & were able to haggle..might want to try that. We ordered right from the Ashley Book.

Yes, I did it once... they may knock off the tax... or give you a few hundred off... but everything is marked up anyways so its not like they are losing KWIM? Always haggle regardless
