Question about BFP on FRER
If I take a test a few days in a row, should the line be getting darker? I got my first BFP Friday night. Took another test Saturday morning and the line was slightly.lighter, but still definitely there. Took another.one this morning, and it was definitely not any darker. Is this normal? Give it to me straight- should I be worried? TIA!

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
It is completely normal. I went thru the same thing. It took about a week for the line to start getting darker, but you can't use the darkness if the line to measure your amount of pregnancy hormone. Congrats!!!!!

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
I'm going to be honest because I wish people had been with me. I had the same thing happen twice and both ended in me losing the BFP.
I know that "a line is a line" but that's not always true.
Technically the line *should* be getting darker as the pregnancy hormone increases in your system. That said, I'm sure there will be any number of other women who can tell you they had the same thing and went on to have healthy pregnancies.
Many fingers crossed for you.

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
Technically, like the PP said, the line should be getting darker. But, that is not a definite indicator that something is wrong though. Before you start to worry, did you take a digital?? How many DPO were you when you tested the first time?

I took a digital on Friday night about an hour or 2 after the BFP on FRER and it came up negative. I took another digital at the same time as the FRER (same urine) on Saturday morning and it was positive. I'm not sure how many dpo I was because I'm not sure when I O'd. But I tested on CD23, 24, 26, 28 with all BFNs and the first BFP was the night of CD30.

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
technically the line "should" be getting darker as HCG levels increase. however, i have seen people have a more noticeable increase in darkness on the internet cheapy tests than FRERs (where sometimes the line is faint for a few days before it starts getting darker). it should get darker eventually though if your HCG is increasing...
I hope that everything works out!

Hmmmm Well I'm going to say that since you took a digital and it came up postiive the second time, than that is a good indicator that the HCG levels are rising. You may have to wait it out another couple of days though and keep testing. Any way you can get a blood test done at your doctor's office?

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
OK. You could VERY well just be VERY early in the pregnancy and that's why you got the negative and the positive result. It would also be why your lines aren't getting any darker.
I found out I was pregnant very early as well... and I tested for about 4 days in a row....and the line NEVER got any darker. I'm currently 24 weeks along.
If I were you, I would call the doctor and ask they do a beta test for you. They should do at least 2 of these blood tests within a 2 day time span to see that your hcg numbers are doubling as they should be. That's more accurate than any hpt would be anyway. I had the beta's done and all was fine.
My first beta was a 62 and that was after I stopped with the hpts... so that's why the lines didn't get any darker for me... it was just that early on.
Good Luck!!!!!!!

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
I don't think you can base anything off the darkness of the lines on the FRER right now. For me it took a few days to see a real difference in the darkness of the tests. your best bet would be to call your dr. and request a blood test.
Good Luck!

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
Thank for your input, ladies. I haven't even called the doctor yet since this is just happened over the weekend. I'm going to call this afternoon and see what they say.

Thank you for your honesty- I really appreciate it! Out of curiosity- did you have any other indications that you might be losing the pregnancy? Any spotting/bleeding, or cramping, or anything? Thanks again!

I had something similar happen to me a few weeks ago. My lines were sometimes darker and then would get lighter. Eventually they just came up as BFN's and then I started bleeding.
The thing about the lines not getting darker is this: If you are going to lose the pregnancy it would not be unusual to see the line fade and/or disappear. BUT, just because you don't see the line getting noticeably darker does NOT mean you are going to miscarry. In fact, it seems to be pretty common. I wish I could be telling you a similar story that could encourage you, but it just didn't work out that way in my particular case.
I really think you should go to the doctor as soon as you can. It will put your mind at ease, and you won't drive yourself crazy analyzing the pink lines. They aren't meant for that, and you're not doing yourself any favors stressing over them. I really hope everything is fine.

I have to agree..when I had my chemical the lines weren't getting darker and I just sort of knew, with my DD1 and this DD they would get darker!!! I honestly DO NOT think this is always the case so I really don't want to be debbie downer so just wanted to put that out there!!!

Re: Question about BFP on FRER
Thanks again for all the input, ladies! To update- I took another FRER this morning and the line was MUCH darker! It was almost as dark as the control line! So needless to say, even though I know I'm not "out of the woods" yet, I feel SO relieved!
