I paid for my bms to have their hair done, but it was part of their gift. In their gift bags they got a gift certificate that paid for their hair, a pearl necklace, and Chinese slippers.

i (well my parents really) paid for hair and makeup for my whole bridal party.
three weddings i have been in the bride and/or her family did the same. the fourth the bride gave each person a $50 gift certificate toward it.
i know that this doesn't always happen though...
