Question about baby throwing herself back as means to get to the floor!

Sonya loves to sit up, however, when she wants to get to the floor, the only way she's figured out how is to throw herself back, and then roll to belly. I usually keep a boppy behind her or a pillow b/c I know this is her routine. When I try to show her other ways to get down, she gets super pizzed and throws what I lovingly call a 9-month baby girl tantrum. Anyway, the other day FIL sat her down in our living room (wood floor.) Before I realized it, she fell back. Nothing behind her. She was fine, but I got really scared. She cried a lot. :( Anyway, by keeping a pillow behind her, am I not helping the issue? What can I do? Or, will she eventually figure it out on her own. I forgot to ask the doc about this at our 9-month well.

I think that unfortunately is something she will figure out on her own and DEFINITELY avoid injury by keeping something behind her at all times until she learns differently. Chat Icon

Thanks! FIL didn't realize, and when I saw how she was sitting, I shouted, "No!" and ran over, only to watch her falling. Chat Icon

My DS did this all the time for a while... we always kept a Boppy behind him until he stopped going backwards. Don't worry, she will eventually stop, but until then all you can really do is keep things nice and soft around her!
