Question
How many IUIs did you go through before moving to IVF?

Re: Question
2..we made the decision after seeing that the IUI's with Clomid were not working (DH's sperm are lazy). It was also a decision since we were self-pay (no insurance)

I'm not covered. I'm covered for everything up to IVF.
I was just thinking- I wonder if I would be covered for the Meds at least...

Re: Question
I had 6 IUI's. 3 with Clomid then 3 with different RE with Injectibles. Actually the last one I did while waiting for all my testing and stuff to get done to move onto IVF. That one was just for fun.

We have similar coverage (well, it's ending soon - but we DID!)
We were covered for 6 IUIs so we were planning on probably doing all 6. Now that we will be paying out of pocket after December, we will have to rethink our decision! Also, since we are jumping right to injectables and IUI - we probably will do 2-3 cycles before moving onto IVF.

Re: Question
I did 4 IUIs and then did 2 IVFs, but now I'm back on IUIs. My situation is a little different, though because I get pregnant on IUIs its just a matter of finding the right egg

Re: Question
Alot! I think it was 3 unmedicated, 4 Clomid and 3 injectable. I just started my IVF cycle. I'm paying out of pocket, so I wanted to make sure I exhausted all other options first. If I was covered for it, I would have done it much sooner.
Maybe your meds will be covered. I didn't think mine would be, but they were.

Well if thats the case than do as many as yoUr covered for.. If you are covered for the meds thats 1/2 the cost!!! The meds for me added up to more than IVF!!! I am not covered for one cent of anything we exhausted everything,, THANK GOD FOR THE LADIES ON THIS BOARD.. I HAD EVERYSINGLE MEDICATION DONATED TO ME.. SAVED ME THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS.. I AM SURE THEY WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU..
just really weigh everything out and make some calls to the insurance comp and you will get your answer!!

Re: Question
5 - 3 cycles with my OB and 2 with the RE . My RE wanted us to do 3 cycles with him, but between the first and second cycle, we discovered we were also dealing with MF. We decided on one more IUI since it was during the time my RE's lab is closed and they do not do IVFs, we didn't want to waste a cycle.

Re: Question
12 IUI cycles with 2 cancelled due to OHSS.......a total waste of time in my case though because my tubes are blocked. But, I have unlimited IUI coverage so it didn't affect me terribly financially.
