Putting in a claim for homeowners insurance?
So, this follows my post about my house sinking....
Should we file a claim with our homeowners' insurance to see if they'll help cover the cost of lifting the house and putting in a new foundation?
We think we have a pretty good case (original inspector from 7+ years ago didn't mention foundation was bad, but recent inspection indicates house is continuing to settle and our home will most likely keep sinking indefinitely). I understand the point of homeowners insurance is so our bank will help protect its investment and I assume the bank wouldn't want our house to keep sinking.
DH says we should try, but I'm afraid that once we put in a claim that it'll be hard for us to get coverage in the future.
Anybody have advice? TIA.

Re: Putting in a claim for homeowners insurance?
I put a claim in a few years ago with Allstate for water damage to our hardwood floors and got 4k for them. They dropped us shortly after and we had a very hard time finding another company and all of them said to us it was because of that 4k claim. With a claim that big I would imagine it to be that much more difficult to find coverage. They love for us to pay in but hate to pay out....
