Purely Curious, seems a LOT of twins lately
So, it seems there are a LOT of twins lately. I don't remember so many when I was growing up. Poll attached, but I'm curious how many mom's of twins had fertility help.

I have twins on both my moms side and dads side of the family and growing up my cousins were all always the only twins in their schools. Now they even think it's twins central

I was pregnant with twins with both my pregnancies. But only gave birth to a singleton and will with this pregnancy as well. But I did have help.
I've noticed that alot of the twin pregnancies lately though are identical twins which are natural.

In the beginning of my pregnancy, they thought I had three.. , but turned out to only be two...
I had fertility help.

Studies say that slightly over 60% of all twins born today are due to Assisted reproductive technology (ART).
When people ask me if twins run in my family I just reply, "Yes, but they also run in the doctor's office."
Most people looked confused and then I explain the above stat.
I do know some moms of multiples who hate that question because they feel as if it's asking if they had "help". It doesn't bother me but, considering the times, I can see where they are coming from.
Congrats to all of the expecting twin mommies!!

Age plays a part as well. After 35 I believe you are more likely to have twins.

I actually lost the first set...they were born at 24 weeks and they didnt make it. (Almost 17 years ago)
My twin girls were born 6 years later. I have a singleton in between. Then another boy after the twins...

I have had back to back twin pregnancies NATURALLY!!!
My first resulted in fraternal twins (sadly we lost one at 10 weeks)
The second, resulted in IDENTICAL twins!!! I also didn't find out until 13 weeks!
WOW!!! I am STILL shocked.

I was thinking the same thing!
Not only here but IRL, I now have 4 sets of twin parents as friends!
2 couples have help, 1 did not, and 1 does not talk about it.
But my set of friends are all over 35 so I think more likely to go for help.
I love it and am totally jealous and in awe of what they do!

Natural for me.
No history of twins on any side of our families.
Mine are identical, same sac.
I think for me.....or reading a little bit on it...I had old eggs
They say women over a certain age....that happens.
