pumps?
I'm going to be a FTM and plan on BF and pumping
Which pump do you recommend and why?

You'll want to get a high quality pump, so it will be effective. If you can, I'drecommend getting a double pump over a single pump, because you will get more milk that way. I have the Medela Pump in Style Advanced backpack and I love it. I have used it through 2 babies already and it's still it perfect working order.

I have the same pump and really liked it too... It comes in other style bags aside from a backpack (though if you wear it as a backpack and get a hands-free pumping bra, you WILL feel and look like a ghostbuster...)
I personally really like the pump and had no issues with it. It had a place to store all the pieces with a few extra pockets to store stuff like nursing pads and stuff which was nice when i was moving it about my apartment or when I pumped on the go.
Overall to make your pumping more enjoyable (or less awful) I'd say to stick with a reputable brand, look into a hands-free style bra so you can like use your phone, or hold a book, and figure out what accessories work best (i.e. is there an attachment that lets you pump directly into your bottles or bags? get it!)

Talk to your insurance company. You should be able to get one for free through them, but you may not be able to choose the brand.
Also, if you decide to purchase one, I'd wait until you are BFing. You won't need it on day 1 anyway (and you can always use one in he hospital).

I have the same one and love it. Madela seems to be a good and long lasting brand. My friend nursed 4 kids until they were a year old using the same madela pump and after 8 years it still works.

I have the medela freestyle. I am a SAHM but I pump for my twin boys at home, 5 times a day and I love my pump. Plus it's so portable and easy to take anywhere. Its also small and lightweight, with a hands free bra I can walk around and do things around the house while pumping.

I used this one and I loved it.
Also--- insurance covered 100% of it.
