Pug Owners

My pug is going to be 2 in July and she jumps and is very hyper. Any ideas on how to calm her down. After a while she is ok and doesnt jump on you as much but I need ideas on what to do.

Honestly, the only thing to do is wait.Chat Icon

My pug was crazy (and still is a little) up until he turned 3. I mean OUT OF CONTROL. It's the breed. I try to show him how to "do nice"
His new phase is trying to be a lap dog, which makes me happy

I agree with the above poster. My dog just turned two and just started calming down...except of course...when food is present.

Fascinus jumped until he was at least 3. No amount of training or harnesses was able to curb it, he just had to get out of his puppy phaseChat Icon

pugs are very hyper. excercise is the key. Walks and lots of toys and things to do in the house to stimulate the dogs mind.

My pug will be 2 in June, and she is crazy. She jumps from the moment I get home from work until we go to sleep at night. She is just so hyper, but my other pug will be 6 next month and she calmed down at probably about 3 years old, but she still gets a little hyper when she goes places.

And food. Once he hears, sees smells food, it's game over. He is out of control.

He actually recognizes the word cheese. We have been giving it to him since he was a pup. If a commercial about cheese comes on TV---He goes BIZERK!!!!!!

Otis is the same way and will be 4 next week!! He goes crazy when food is around and he is very smart and know what we are saying to the point that my husband and I have to spell words!! LOLChat Icon

Taking him for long walks works and also chasing him around the yard helps.

We spell things out too. It is unreal how he can pick up on key words in our regular conversations.
