Puerto Rico hotel recommendations
So I am trying to plan ahead for my husbands 30th birthday next year....and he has always wanted to go to Puerto Rico. No hotel really jumps out at me when I do my searches so just trying to find some recommendations. We will have a 6 month old LO by then..so it will be my first time traveling with a child. So any help is great!!! We would be traveling in Aug.
TIA

I enjoyed the Caribe Hilton. It was secluded so we walked a short distance to the casino hotels.

The TA I went to se recommended that place. How is the beach there? Is the water rough? Are there any restaurants in walking distance?

Re: Puerto Rico hotel recommendations
I was there back in 2005 and we stayed at the Intercontinental and I absolutely loved it there. (I don't know if it is still there, but that is my rec)

Re: Puerto Rico hotel recommendations
I have stayed at both the Caribe hilton once and the Intercontinental 3 times. The Caribe was okay but this was 10 yrs ago. I heard from friends more recently that it was a bit run down andgot mixed reviews. Haven't been to the other hotel in about 5 years but we were pleased the 3 different times we stayed there. It is right on the beach which was okay. We just walked on it didn't swim. The pool was nice and we spent our pre cruise time there.
I haven't stayed there but my cousin and a few friends have mentioned staying at the El San Juan which I think is next door, and then I think there is a four seasons next to that if I remember correctly. I think any of those three would be okay.

We stay at the El San Juan or the Ritz. The El San Juan def has more going on - disco, casino, etc

The TA also recommended here.
Do the beaches have rough waves here?

He said it's the same....just doesn't advise staying at the villas. There's 3 parts, the main building, executive towers (nicest) and then the villas.
If you like bar hopping, the Marriot is the better place to be. The Hilton has nicer amenities....nicer beach, pool, rests..

I stayed at the Caribe Hilton in 2009. Loved it. The location was perfect and central to everything.

We mostly cabbed it everywhere -- but the cab situation in PR is amazing. Not expensive and they are EVERYWHERE.

I've stayed there too. The hotel is very nice and in a great location, but was maybe a little "too quiet". The beach is like a little lagoon, carved out and protected from the ocean - like a quiet little oasis. The ocean itself is very rough. We mostly went to the pool, though

Thanks for all of the recommendations!!! I think I am going to use our timeshare and stay outside of san juan instead. It will save on $$ and is only a 30-45 minute drive to anything we would want to see.

I know you said you're probably going to use your timeshare, but just wanted to put in that I've stayed at the Intercontinental & it was fantastic.
