I do balanced and this year I didn't have to pay one month and I got a credit. There is no way I could afford the bill during the summer months if we weren't on balanced.

Actual. I don't do balance anything. I want to pay what I use when I use it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Do you ever feel they are kind of shady about things? Or do you just purely want to pay for actual usage? Sometimes I wonder. But I'm probably paranoid
For PSEG I don't see how they can be shady. I look at how many KWH I used and my bill should be based off that. I just like paying for actual usage.
Same goes for the oil bill, ill pay when I get deliveries. If anything I am more diligent because I will look at every bill and make sure they aren't screwing me on the delivery rate / gal.
I also don't escrow taxes.
Same on all counts, I like to pay for my usage as it happens.
This exactly! Plus when I went to price out what balanced would be for my house it was double what I pay at my highest point. Why on earth would I do that? Plus my house is really teeny and the most Ive ever paid for electric is $200 in the 2 years Ive been there.

We pay actual, and I get a bill only every other month since the billing cycle is 60 days. We just renovated our house with all new LED lights, CAC, etc and so far there has been no change in my usage.

I'm curious why would your balanced billing be double your highest bill? I thought they average you prior years usage. In my experience they also lower your balanced billing amount if you are using less than they budgeted for.

This is what I don't understand. Let's say your monthly balanced bill is $150. If you are using a lot more electricity during the summer...say $300....don't you have to pay that $150 at some point?
