provera?

CD69 first cycle off BCP - lots o' BFN's.

ok so i finally got in touch with the doc who said to go get a blood draw at a lab and if my hormone levels are "normal" ( ) she'll prescribe provera to bring on AF.

ive done a tiny bit of reserach on provera. what exactly does it do? (i mean i know you get AF but like how?? what happens inside your body that makes you get AF??).

also some of what i read said you should not take provera if you are pregnant as it could have negative effects on the baby. SO - how long do i take provera - just til AF arrives?? then will i O in that cycle? can i ttc in a cycle that starts due to provera??

i was on BCP for like 12 or so years. so i feel so totally lost with my cycle. like i have NO recollection of whether it was long or short or normal when i was 16 lol.

its mega-frustrating i just cant wait to feel like my BDing could actually produce a B and is not just D

I am in the same boat. My last AF was in March about six weeks after stopping BCP. No AF since then. I had my hormone levels checked in early May. Everything came back normal. I don't know what the heck is going on. It's so frustrating!!

DH and I will be on vacation for the last two weeks in July. If AF doesn't appear before we return, it's back to the doctor. I don't want to be worrying about prescription drugs while we are away.

Provera, I believe, is similiar to taking the third week of the pill. It gives your body a hormone (I think progesterone) and then takes it away. You only take it for 5 days and should expect to get a period from 3-10 days after your last pill. It forces a bleed as long as your body is producing enough estrogen. I have taken it a few times now and have had no side effects. I usually get AF 3-6 days after my last pill. Some people do take longer.

Good luck. Coming off the pill can be frustrating and it does take some people a while to regulate - I just wish doctors would let people know that more!
