Prostate cancer
My FIL was recently diagnosed. He was told surgery or radiation were his options. If anyone has any advice or doctor/hospital recommendations, I would really appreciate it. TIA!

Re: Prostate cancer
My father had it years ago. We all sat with the doctor & listened to the options...we all agreed that surgery was best. Radiation doesn't always work, but complete removal does. My dad went to Sloan Kettering...not sure what doctor he had, but they were great. Best wishes to your FIL!

Re: Prostate cancer
I'm sorry about your FIL. My dad had prostate cancer around 8 years ago. He opted to for the HIFU procedure because it's a simple procedure and there were less side effects. He used Dr. Stephen Scionti. It didn't have final FDA approval at that time so he had to pay OOP and travel to either Canada, Bermuda, Bahamas, or I think somewhere else. He went to Bermuda and was up and walking/shopping around town the same day. He didn't have any side effects and the cancer never came back. I know it may sound crazy to some but my parents were so happy to go that route.
I think it has gotten FDA approval now so it can be done in the states. However, I think Dr. Scionti moved to FL.

Prostate cancer
My dad did the cyberknife treatment (one week of radiation) with Dr. Katz at Winthrop. He liked it was quick. My father in law did the surgery to remove and had more complications after.

Prostate cancer
My father had surgery, chemo and radiation.
He went with a Dr at Sloan Kettering and really likes her a lot (I can't remember her name).
