Programmable Thermostat?
Our Engineer suggested that we get a Programmable Thermostat.
Is this something that we can install ourselves? And what kind do you have (if you have one?)

I am not sure the name of ours, but you definately can install it yourself. Our friend is in the heating/cooling business, so he got us ours from the warehouse but I do know that Home Depot or Lowe's carries them. We saw a BIG difference in both our heating & CAC bill since having them

we have one.. ours is by honeywell, and we got it home depot. it was about $40, and DH installed it himself ( I don't remember him cursing too much while doing it, so i'm guessing it wasn't too bad to do  )
they are the best thing ever because they can make a HUGE difference in how much you spend on heating/cooling. you don't have to remember to raise or lower the thermostat all the time, you just program it to adjust for when you're not home. ours has a 5-2 program, so you can set it for one program for 5 days ( the work week), and then on the 2 weekend days when you're home more, you can have a different program.

we have two, one on each floor.
One of ours was Low voltage-very easy, the other "line" voltage-which is not an easy project

we put one in our new home dh loves it. we have geo thermo heat, and dh sez it is the best kind of thermostat.

We had one installed when we bought our house - Petro did it when they came to service the boiler.

I have one & I love it! It's a Honeywell & I got it at Home Depot. It wasn't too hard to install, although I did have to call tech support-I had an extra wire to deal with, & they were very helpful. I got a 5 day/2 day and it was very easy to program. I would definitely recommend it.

We have one, and it's great. I'm sure we saved a fortune on heating bills b/c we can set the heat to turn up only when we're home and awake. We didn't install ours, but it's Honeywell (I think).

We just installed one for our heating thermostat. My dad and DH put it in. It didn't seem too difficult. DH wants to get a really good one to put in the living room for the AC. I think he will try and do that one buy himself.

I wish I had thought of this! They were just at my house recently. Maybe we will try installing one ourselves!
