Progesterone injection?
How bad is it really? I'm on BCP right now and I should start stimming soon, but I'm really freaked out about the progesterone injection. How bad is it really? The needle seems to be enormous!!!
Is it an injection I can do myself? Any tips? I'm scheduled for injection class on Sunday so I'm sure I'll learn a lot there. TIA!

Re: Progesterone injection?
I do it myself but I think I'm in the minority. I don't think its that bad! I guess I just do it and don't think about it too much. Good luck!

Re: Progesterone injection?
When you see that needle coming at you, its not fun...BUT, if you ice the area for a good 20 minutes you won't feel a thing! That's what I always did!

Re: Progesterone injection?
DH gave the injection to me, and honestly it wasn't bad. I didn't ice the area beforehand.
You'll be fine!

Re: Progesterone injection?
It's really not that bad!
The anticipation is much worse than the actual shot itself.
I will say that the first day on each cheek hurt the most, and then it becomes kind of numb. Make sure that your DH massages the area for a minute just to let the oil spread - but don't ice afterward!
It's not something that I would do myself, but only because I just hate needles and don't like to look at them - but my DH did them and my mom actually had to do it for me when my DH was in the hospital and it really was fine! (I actually stayed on them even when I could switch back to suppositories because I thought it was so much better)

Re: Progesterone injection?
I iced the area before and then had DH do the injection. After the injection I was told by the dr. to use a heating pad. Like you, I was scared before starting but it was totally fine. GL!!

Re: Progesterone injection?
I did the progesterone injection myself and never had any problems with the actual injection - that didn't hurt. However, I had a lot of issues afterwards - very painful lumps on my tush - depiste heating and massaging! I would reccomend really massaging the area where you gave the injection afterwards - use pressure for a good 5 minutes. I think that sometimes I did not massage for long enough.

Re: Progesterone injection?
It looks much worse than it is. Because you don't have a lot of nerve endings in your butt, you won't feel it. The soreness the next day is the worst part. As far as doing it yourself, you can - I found the hardest part was making sure I emptied the syringe. Other than that, you just have to point and shoot.

Re: Progesterone injection?
DH did it for me. The needles are big, but you will get used to them pretty quickly and it becomes routine, believe it or not.
Just ice really well beforehand. You'll do fine.
