Progesterone
Hi all,
I am 4 weeks pregnant... Here's my situation!
When I was trying to conceive my 1st child I had a low-normal progesterone level. My dr prescribed me this progesterone cream that I took before I conceived and continued through my pregnancy.
With this pregnancy, I was not trying to get pregnant, and surprisingly took a test on Monday and saw it was positive! I called my dr and explained that I was on progesterone cream last time because I had a low- normal level and that i just wanted to double check my numbers. i went in for blood work on Wednesday, which is when I was 4 weeks exactly, and my progesterone level was 13. The dr said it was a good number but prescribed me the suppositories to start taking tonight. I am a bit concerned... If 13 is a good number why did she prescribe suppositories? Do you think it will cause harm?
When I asked she said it doesn't hurt to get the number higher! But I'm worried now that it may be unnecessary and may cause harm to the baby? Any feedback would be helpful,
Thanks, Jackie

Re: Progesterone
Congratulations!!!!
Most doctors like to see your progesterone levels at 10+. Since levels tend to change all the time, the suppositories will just help to boost yours and keep them within the healthy range. They won't cause any harm. I had low progesterone with my first pregnancy and then again this time... I believe my levels went down to a 6 when I was pregnant with my son. I took the suppositories until about 10 weeks which is when you would most likely stop them too.

Re: Progesterone
Yes, I totally agree with pp. it is a protective measure. It should also help with peace of mind.

Re: Progesterone
Thank you!!! I was worried because 13 was a good number and I thought that the suppositories may cause it to go up too high... U eased my anxiety a little! This is such a stressful time and I don't want to take anything unnecessary, but I guess progesterone can't cause harm...thank you so much!
