Preschool WWYD
I'm a SAHM- my boys are 7 and 4. the 7 year old went to a morning co-op preschool (we live in NJ), where i took my turn about once a month being the teacher's assistant. It wasn't bad- and was actually a nice way to see what he was doing there, get to the know the teacher, etc. BUT the director left the same time that my son "Graduated" for kindergarten. AND from the people i know who are still there, the new director isn't good, all the original teachers that my son had, left so its all new teachers. just not the same "vibe". SOOO for my younger son this year, i found another school. Still just 3 mornings a week. I've been happy there, he really likes the teachers and has made some friends, etc. BUT even for next year in their pre-k class they still only offer 3 AM a week, with the option to add an addition afternoon. SO he would go Tuesdays 12:30-3, then W,TH,F from 9-11:30. I just think he needs 5 times a week, since he'll be going to kindergarten the following year. He also was just adopted from Korea 10 months ago, so more school will be good for his language, etc (although he's doing pretty well with it). SOOOO do i switch him for next year and send him to my older sons preschool thats 5 mornings a week? OR keep him where he is and have the kind of confusing 1 afternoon, 3 morning schedule?? The co-op is definitely cheaper than his current school... but neither are out of "budget"...

I'd stick with 4 half days at a school you like over 5 half days at a school you may end up very unhappy with. It is a weird schedule but in the end one day a week probably won't make a huge difference. Take him to library programs or sign him up for an extra curricular to supplement.

Does your district have a lottery for free universal prek? They may have one and I would tell them your son is adopted from Korea which can give an admission preference for language assistance. Best of all it can be free if he qualifies.

If he's happy there and has friends there, I wouldn't move him. He'll get used to the new schedule and 4 days is still a good amount for pre k.

thanks, everybody! i think i just needed to write it out definitely leaning towards keeping him there. he's had enough change in the past year with coming to us from Korea at 3 years old. so i think it'll be the best thing to keep hm where he's comfortable...

Re: Preschool WWYD
If you like where he is, I’d keep him, especially that the other alternative is 5 mornings - not a huge difference. It would be a different story if the other setting was 5 full day.
