WWYD? Preschool Bday party invite (gifts for 5yr olds?)
I got the invite Tuesday morning. I must RSVP today.
Its for two girls in the class who have the same bday (off by one day) and so the parents decided to throw a joint bday party at a “My Little Gym”. Both are turning 5.
So I have to buy two gifts?
What do you get 5yr olds and I'm on a very limited budget.
Maybe I should just decline?
 If I had known I could have budgeted. I think we need a bday list *sigh*

Two kids, two gifts. If I were strapped financially, I would just buy a smaller gift for each kid.
What about a DVD? Target has a bunch of kids DVDS in the $10-15 range and if you get a gift receipt, they can always return if they already have them.

a set of beads? a game? if you are crafty maybe make a hair accessory?
i have found that parties sometimes come in waves. one year it felt like we were going to one every weekend for two months straight! i now plan it it the budget  ...

unless you don't know the second kid AT ALL, I would get two gifts
If you want to be more inexpensive, stay AWAY from the toy aisles! Check by the crafts, books, sports etc.
What is your budget per kid?

Mine is only 3 so its all Mickey Mouse club House and Disney.

its easy to get affordable gifts for that age. The biggest hits at my 5yr old DD's birthday were M&D crafty gifts, like:

There are 22 kids in DD's pre-k class, so I already decided to be consistent & fair, I am saying no. We already got one and I couldn't pick that kid out of line up if I tried!

Yes 2 gifts.
I would go to 5 below or Wal-Mart / AC Moore and get an art and craft kit. I looked online and found many for less than $10 bucks a set.
If you go to AC moore, look for the coupons they mail out for 20% off.
ETA: found this ar TRU and its $8 bucks. I thought it was cute.

I would get them both a subscription to National Geographics magazine for Kids. It'll cost you $15 per subscription and I bet you the parents will love it! My son received it from one of his friends and I thought that was such a cool idea. I didn't even know it was so inexpensive! He gets so excited when they come in the mail!

Those craft ideas are great. They are by Melissa & Doug I believe. AC Moore sells them. They have a good selection in the children's section. I have a 40% off coupon for AC Moore right now that I got emailed with today. email me at [email protected] if you want me to forward them to you. You can print out 2 and get on line 2 times to get both gifts for both girls at 40% off 
My DD is 6 and another great gift that we've given at 5 years of age is board games. Games llike Monopoly Jr. Scrabble Jr, Operation, Connect 4, and Guess Who? are great games at $5. You can get them for around $10 each at target. We have a lot of fun with board games in our house!

Michael's has 40% off coupons too that you can google and print online, and Michael's accepts AC Moore coupons bc they are competetors!

Marshall's was closer tho I could have driven around the buildings and down the block to Michael's. who knows.. maybe if I don't run out of gas by Friday I'll try Michael's for a little extra bit.

Thank you! I'm so nervous I'll seem cheap   When really I am on a super tight budget for our Disney trip. These $10 came out of my $40 allowance for gas.
