Preschool tuition

Would anyone mind sharing what they pay for their prek tuition. I'm very happy with my school and my DD loves it but I pay over $350/month for 3 days a week for 2.5 hours each day. I see preschools offering much lower tuition rates. The teachers at my school are all certified teachers with master degrees in education. Other than that I don't see why it costs so much. Do you think it's soley due to the educational background of the teachers? Or is it the norm for most preschool teachers to have master degrees? We are very happy with the school but I need to justify the cost. The school is in Nassau County if that matters.

We're paying about $3,800 (including registration fee) for the year for 5 half days, about 3.5hrs a day. This is a private Catholic school in Central Nassau.

We paid $525 per month for 5 days per week of 2 hours 45 min. I think it's on the upper end of Suffolk tuition.

I'm paying 166 a month per twin to go 3 days 2.5 hours per day. Then I have each twin in 2 extra days for a gym class and an activity class. It's an extra 25 per kid. So I am paying 191 per month per kid for 5 days 2.5 hours per day. It's a pre k program through our church.

My sons school for 3 days 9-12 is $345 a month. For 3 days 9-2 is $504

That is in Smithtown area

ETA
It costs alot more than my older son's preschool did. But they are also certified teachers, and its an amazing school. I really am very happy there and very comfortable leaving my son there! I only have 10 more months! (sept-jun) thats what I keep telling myself!! LOL

I pay 195 a month for 3 days a week for 2.5 hours. All the teachers are certified. We do a lot of fund raisers and pay for things like field trips and extras to come into the school.

We pay more.

Our preschool is pretty awesome (have thought about switching to a cheaper one, but they don't compare).

I compare it to preschools in the city, which are a LOT more.

Can I ask what makes your preschool worth the extra money? What about the other schools didnt compare to yours?

I'm trying to figure out is if it is worth spending the extra money. This is my first one in preschool so I don't have anything to compare it to. I found a school that is less money and the facility itself is actually nicer than the one she currently attends. That being said, if the teaching quality is better I feel justified in paying more. It's just hard to judge without your child actually attending. We looked at a few and they all seemed very nice with lovely teachers.

The school we chose is $5,250 for 4 days per week, 3 hours a day (mid Sept to mid-June). It is one of the cheaper options in our area (Nassau north shore).

I looked at 6ish schools and all were pretty similar. I'm paying 200 for 2 days, 2.5 hours. The only one that was a lot more than the others was not impressive at all. The kids didn't listen to the teacher and owner much and all I saw them do was dittos. Talking to my cousin recently she said she paid a boatload more for her first kid's school and her second did a lot more at the school that cost much less. I'm sure wroth some you get more when you pay more and other times not.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of and trying to avoid. I just don't want to regret pulling her out and switching to another school only to be disappointed. I guess there are no guarantees. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Re: Preschool tuition

I don't think cost=quality.

Our preschool is a Montessori (different there) & very academic & independence promoting. DS has developed interesting qualities there w a lot of leadership (impressive for me for preschool). I personally liked mixed ages. Prob not for everyone... But it was right for him. It was the same price as 2 schools I visited, but more than 2 others that were in the 3-5k per year range.

You do need to visit a bunch of places & feel what is right to you. Others that I visited were very focused on essentially babysitting (even some pricey ones).

Ones in NYC run ridiculous $$$ (so I'm still happy).
