Prenatal ?
Just a quick question - Are doctor prescribed and over the counter prenatals the same?? My doctor is on vaca and I need a brand switch since my insurance doesn't cover the one she wrote for me. I know I can wait a week, but I am just curious if I were to buy the over the counter ones - are they pretty much the same?? TIA

Re: Prenatal ?
Honestly I think they are. Can you call the office, and have them switch it while the doctor is away? I take OTC. I know some of the prescription ones have things like colace in them to help you go, b/c sometimes the IRON will plug ya up. Besides that I really don't know the difference. I think you can get them cheaper sometimes w/ a script b/c they may only be $5 - $10 depending on your insurance. Good luck.

when I was PG this spring & went to dr. visit & brought my OTC vitamins with me, he said they were fine. I'm using Target brand.

Re: Prenatal ?
i think they are the same, but if you can check with your ins co to see what your copay is you may be able to get the generic version of one of the doc prescribed ones... my doc prescribed the citranatal DHL double pack ones and i got the generic for only $5 for 1 month supply, cheaper then any of the OTC ones.
