Pre term labor and flying

So i have another quick question....i am about 10 weeks now - only going in for my first dr visit this week....does anyone out there in mommy land know if women are allowed to fly in mid pregnancy? I had 2 previous pre term births one at 28wk and the one before that at 34 weeks -both seemingly related to placental issues....the problem is my parents booked a trip for our whole family to fly to our timeshares in Aruba for this thanksgiving and have hired a photographer and all ....its a big deal to them and I didnt know I was pregnant when they made the arrangements - I think i will be about 24 weeks then? do you think I will be allowed to travel or if it would be safe at all? With all thats going on right now I completely forgot about this - just need to try and plan and am driving my self nuts worrying about it....anyone with similar exp....and wanting to share - thanks!

Pre term labor and flying

I flew at 24 weeks with no problems at all. That was my first pregnancy though and I was very blessed to have an easy time of it. I would definitely ask the doctor considering your pre-term risk.

I LOVE Aruba! I hope you can go.

Depends on your dr. you normally can fly until 3rd trimester.

Given your history, you'd have to see if you personally feel comfortable to travel. Did you have any indications with either pregnancy that you would give birth prematurely? If not, I might be hesitatant to travel out of the country at that point.

I'm sure your parents would understand that the health of their daughter and unborn grandchild trumps a family vacation!

Re: Pre term labor and flying

As someone currently being treated for preterm labor starting at 22wks I would definitely be nervous about it, especially based on your history. That said, I'd speak to your doctor and see what they say. I'm guessing you will be monitored very carefully this time around so hopefully it won't be an issue. Good luck!

I flew at 22/23weeks with no problems BUT given your history I would DEF speak to your doctor and ask them before speaking to your parents about it. And don't worry about your parents, they will be excited about another grandchild more then a trip to Aruba!!

based on your history your Dr will probably tell you no. For the avergage person it would be fine.

I wouldn't given your history unless your Dr. has a plan as to how he plans to keep this LO inside you!!!

I would imagine if your Dr said no, your family would understand given your history.
