Prayers Please - Update #2
My Best Friend is on the way to the hospital with my 6 year old goddaughter. She had a cut near her knee that just BLEW UP with an infection. They suspect it may be MRSA and she might have to be on an antibiotic drip in the hospital for a few days.
If you can spare a few prayers for my gorgeous little Caelan, I would really appreciate it. I'm sure she'll be fine.. but she's scared and nervous and so am I.

**UPDATE**
Ms. Caelan is home from the hospital. They gave her an IV antibiotic for a little bit and - if you are squeamish stop reading here - squeezed the mess out of her infection until all of the goop was out as much as possible.
They won't know if it is MRSA for a few days.. but they are treating it for both a regular infection AND MRSA until they can rule out MRSA.
They outlined where the redness and swelling is today on her knee, took an x-ray and told my friend to bring her to the ped tomorrow. If the infection is beyond the outline that they drew, they will admit her to the hospital and put her on IV antibiotics for a few days.. so please keep praying that it goes down.
AND.. the hospital told my friend what my ped told me (AGAIN) - that MRSA is just an infection. Anytime you get a cut or scrape or whatnot, you risk getting an infection - and some people funthe additional risk of that infection being resistant to certain drugs. The biggest difference is that they treat it with different antibiotics than they would a regular staph infection. He said a lot more people have MRSA colonized on their bodies than you would expect so it really isn't anything to panic over. So.. I'm breathing again.
I'll update again tomorrow when we see if her infection recedes. Thank you very much for your prayers!
**Update 2**
It looks as though the oral antibiotics are working! The infection seems to be clearing and she will not need to be admitted to the hospital. Just waiting for the ped to agree and we are good to go!

My brother has MRSA, he was in the hospital for 3 days on some serious meds. He was mins away from having surgery to relieve the infection. Thank God, he didn't need it. Its been about 2 weeks and he is just now seeing the infection close up.
I hope the little girl is ok.

This is SO confusing and upsetting to me because i called my ped to discuss the fact that MRSA was in our home and my son is scheduled for surgery, etc..
Basically I am being told (ad nauseum) that I shouldn't worry about it because my sons are healthy with no underlying conditions. But my goddaughter is also healthy with no underlying conditions.. so why is she having this issue?? I am waiting for MY ped (not the nurse and alternate doc) to call me back because I AM worried - about Caelan, about my sons, about Caelan's 4 month old brother .. it's CRAAAZY!
