Potty Training- afraid of peeing in potty
My DD is 2.5 and I tried to start potty train her but no matter what reward I get for her, she will sit, but is deathly afraid to pee in the potty... anyone else had this problem and what finally worked? Could it be she isn't ready and I should wait a few months before trying again?

She's not ready. 2.5 is still young!
DS was petrified of sitting on the potty. Then one day he saw his big cousin pee and that was it. He literally trained in a day and we never looked back. He was 2 months shy of 3yo.

Not ready. Let it go for a bit and she will show interest on her own soon, I am sure

Re: Potty Training- afraid of peeing in potty
Thanks. I am training her on real toilet (using a toilet ring for her to sit on) since I figure that would be easier than transitioning her from a potty to a toilet. I guess I will try again in a few months...

I agree with those who said she’s not ready. We tried a few times with my DS and I found when he was truly ready, it was simple and happened in like two days with maybe one or two accidents. It was like next thing I knew he was a potty trained kid and never looked back.

I am of the opposite school. I pushed my ds to potty train. He was 2.5 and if I waited til he was ready we’d still be in diapers at 6. My son needs a good push for most things.

She might not be ready, but you could also try a little training potty. We got my dd a cute princess potty when she was around 2.5 and she was so excited about it, and loved to sit on it. However, she was still having lots of accidents, so I chose to go back to diapers for a few months and tried again when she was a couple months shy of turning 3, and she learned very quickly in just a day or so. She had no problem transitioning from the little potty to the real toilet. We started with a training ring on the toilet and a step stool so her feet wouldn't be dangling.
