Potty Training 3 yr old - some issues
We started PT 3 yr old DS on Sat (3 day potty method but slight variations here and there). He did great! Peeing we have down and all day Sat, Sun, Mon he was pooping on the potty like a champ. But Mon night he pooped in his underwear. I figured ok 1 accident no biggie. Then he did it yesterday and then this morning too. Why is he suddenly scared of pooping on the potty?? I keep reminding myself its only day 5 but I need some suggestions. We are doing 1 reward from prize box for peeing and 2 for pooping (prizes are dum dums, hershey kisses, stickers, etc). What do i do now to get him back on track??
Also, is it normal that he wakes up in the morning and fights me to sit on the potty and pee? He says no no and he doesnt need to and whines and screams and then i finally have him sit and he pees! But why is he fighting it?

My oldest was the same way. She just didn't want to sit. She would go,if she say, so it was frustrating.
I think it's a control issue. She outgrew it pretty fast.

Re: Potty Training 3 yr old - some issues
DD was recently potty trained at 29 months. We also did the 3 day potty training method - a variation of it but for the most part. Dd was just like your DS - she was doing great and then we went through a period of accidents - mainly poop. We just went back to saying - let me know if you have to pee or poop, big girls keep their underwear dry, pooping in your pants is for babies ect..... basically back to day one. We upped the prize for poop - DD is obsessed with my phone and lap top so if she pooped on the potty we gave her 5 minutes with either. Also she always fought us first thing in the morning - I have no clue why but she no longer does that. Ithink it was a "control" phase - she out grew it Good Luck Stick with it!!!!

Re: Potty Training 3 yr old - some issues
Some times the pooping takes longer for some reason - I wouldn't push it too much but keep doing what you are. For DS we had a train potty chart - we colored it in each time he was on the potty and when he got to the end of the tracl he got a prize.
For the morning - I wouldn't force it. Totally a control issue - DS won't do it and has been potty trained for 4 months now - he'll go after he's come downstairs and watched a show.
Side note- there is a Daniel Tiger episode about potty and for a while it helped to remind him even when you don't think you have to go pee, you have some.
