Post Baby Running?
I had my baby 4 weeks ago and am looking to run a half marathon on 3/20. Realistic and doable if I begin running again in another 2 weeks when I get the green light from my doctor?
I ran until 7 months preggo about 5-10 miles a few days a week. I am carrying about 20 extra lbs which I'm a little worried about running with...however I feel like half of it is in my chest!!
I am not looking to PR this time, just get back out there doing something I love.
Think I can do this? I will be running another marathon in the fall but thought this could be a great jump start mentally and physically!

Re: Post Baby Running?
I say doable! I started running 7 weeks PP and I was pretty much able to pick up where I left off (and I had not run during my pregnancy). So if you were running up until 7 months, I think you will be in pretty good shape.
When do you have to register for the race? Could you hold off on registering until you see how the first week or 2 of running go?

i struggled the first few weeks i ran - i started around 6 weeks when i got the go ahead - my hips hurt when i ran and the next day so i could only run every other day but then the pain went away and i could run every day

Re: Post Baby Running?
I started at 5 weeks PP (after a c/s!!) with #2 and I ran a 10K 12weeks pp. i wasn't fast, but like you said, it was good to get out and get back into it. You have to start somewhere.
Just channel your inner Paula Radcliff. I'm contemplating MCM at 2 months PP?

SAME! Started at 7 weeks pp and ran 5K's at around 15 weeks pp I think. And I was not as good shape a you before getting pregnant. You can do it!

Definitely do-able! Since you've run before, and ran while pregnant, you should be fine, you have just less than 3 months to train, which is great. I ran a half about 6 months pp, but did some smaller races sooner than that. Enjoy!

Re: Post Baby Running?
you'll be fine since you kept up so much while PG..that's great! your body won't be shocked by it. just be patient with your "new" body in the beginning. i ran a 10k 10 wks after having my first c/s and this year ran a marathon when my 2nd child was 14 months. it took me awhile but thats b/c i gained 60 lbs with him and stopped running altogether. good luck and have fun!

Hey - I saw your post the other day but never got to respond! I think you can definitely do it! As long as you go in with little expectations and know you may be taking it slow! Good luck and let us know if you do it!

Re: Post Baby Running?
You can totally do it!!! Go you for running up until 7 months old!!! Like the others said, just be easy on yourself.
I am running my first half in May and DS will be 11 months. I started running after I got the 6 week clearance but pretty much stopped completely when I returned to work. DS is finally STTN and I have a much better routine now and I am finding I am just now able to work exercise back into my life.
Good luck!
