I love how one of the very few positive Trump posts on this board end up getting bashed. It is amazing. The guy can find a cure to Cancer and he will still get mocked.

Kind of like Obama - for EIGHT years?

You didn't like it much did you?

So lets go ahead and display the same behavior now.

And to add- I hated Obama with every existence of my being but I never wished death or injury on him.

Just pointing to the hypocrisy is all.
And I never wished death or injury on Trump.

If he found a cure for cancer he'd probably sell it to Russia or make it so expensive the "common folk" could never afford it.

Curious why it was ok to complain about Obama but it's not ok to do the same for Trump?

Because they think he's some messiah and doesn't deserve it. We are all delusional to hate him.

He'd probably enlist Martin Shkreli to market it.

Exactly!!

The narcissistic billionaire who ONLY serves his own best interest is going to save America and make us great and propel the little guy into success and wealth.Chat Icon Chat Icon

OR.................he'll just protect his own interests, screw us all, and walk away leaving a mess. That's the more likely scenario.

As an aside, he won and those of us that didn't vote for him accept that fact because we have no other choice. However, him winning doesn't erase the disdain people have for him. Trump haters don't all of a sudden support and back him "just because he won" when just a few weeks ago we were all hoping he disappeared back to his tacky palace. It is what is but not everyone has to get on board and like it..............Trump supporters shouldn't take it so personally.

It's not that we take it personally, it's that Trump supporters are being ridiculed for voting for him. They support him and shouldn't be called a racist, moron, etc etc because of it. I've seen on these boards a bunch of time "anyone who voted for Trump is a stupid f***ing a**hole" really?
And, the excuse that Trump has used name calling in his campaign is weak and overplayed. Thought the HRC supporters were better then that??

Thank you! This, exactly! I don't remember anyone on this board wishing harm to Obama like in the other thread. It's absolutely wrong and inappropriate to do to Trump and I would've felt the same if it was done to Obama.

But this thread isn't about wishing harm on Trump. It's about criticizing him. So, I'll ask my question again - why has it been ok to criticize Obama but not ok to criticize Trump? The poster you quoted basically responded "you didn't like it much when it was done to Obama for 8 years, so why are you exhibiting the same behavior towards Trump?" It doesn't even matter who you vote for or support... No snark, I'm just truly curious of that logic - why it's ok for one but not the other.

If this is directed towards me, I stated it yesterday when you asked... It's NOT ok! But I don't remember the viciousness over Obama for weeks after the election like I've seen over Trump. Namely on this board.. And I actually had voted for Obama twice, so I would've definitely remembered that. And even though the wishing harm wasn't stated on this particular thread, it was on another. No matter how much you hate a person or someone in the world may have threatened to hurt Obama or HRC, it's no excuse to do the same thing. Even if you end it with
" tongue in cheek". But what's worse is to do it on the LI FAMILIES board among posts about children bullying or being bullied, it's pretty pathetic. It's also very hypocritical.

He will be our President. Do your peaceful protesters, if you feel. Try to get involved in local politics and change laws, do letter writing, whatever. But at the end of the day, why can't we just hope he does a good job for the sake of us all and our country and just stop all the hate?

I do agree with your sentiments especially getting involved and hoping he does a good job (although you cannot have an altruistic mindset about your hopes for success for his administration while simultaneously dismissing people's - fellow LIF posters even - fear of some of his cabinet picks already such as Bannon to chief strategist).

But I would like to point out that just recently someone made a disgusting racist remark on this very forum towards Obama. I personally don't care if you love or hate the guy or if you voted for him or not or if you love or hate Trump. However, after the remark was made, NOT ONE person who responded they don't support Obama came out and denounced this remark by posting: "hey! What you just said here is wrong and racist. I may not like Obama, may not have voted for him, may not agree with his views but I stand against your racist remark as I disagree with it wholeheartedy!" Not a single one! They didn't even say anything close to that. Some ignored the remark, some added fuel to the fire. Some pretended like it was no big deal. So, this example is exactly what I mean when I ask "why is criticism ok for Obama, but not ok for Trump?"

For what it's worth, I didn't see any comment like that about Obama. If I had I would've said the same thing about it being disgusting, and inappropriate.

What I have seen since the election are vicious comments about and towards not just Trump, but also his supporters, with the latest being a comment wishing Trump harm. I just don't understand how tit for tat is ok, or two wrongs making a right. I also don't understand how HRC supporters can then get away applauding comments like " when they go low , we go higher." What I've seen is a lot of "when they go low, we go lower". That's the hypocrisy.

I loathe Trump and company but I will stop short of wishing him harm.

I wouldn't cry if something happened to him but I can't go to that length. He has a family, including a young son.

However, regarding other viciousness towards him, I do think this is a different situation than Obama (and before anyone jumps down my throat, I also think this is different from GWB - a president I also loathed.)

We've elected a racist, misogynist, xenophobic sexual predator. Any ire directed towards him in the form of mockery and criticism is a logical response from people who recognize him for what he is.

If you (general you) choose to ignore his history that is up to you. Others do not.

Obama - and again, Bush, and pretty much every president who came before Trump - are in a whole different category in terms of their moral character.
